Spitballing: LeBron or Bust!

The Question: Will they get LeBron?

The Answer: Will they get anyone?

The Solution: Wait and see. The Knicks have been clearing cap space to go after the bumper crop of free agents in 2010 but I have a feeling that a lot of the best players might be re-signing this offseason. Granted, the 2010 class is so loaded that the Knicks will likely get someone but I can't imagine they they are thrilled by the prospect of getting guys like Joe Johnson and Josh Howard.

As for this offseason, there's not much to do. They have expiring contracts but they'd rather have the cap space than a player. They can't really get into the early bird bidding because they don't have anything to offer in a trade. Toronto will not be dealing Bosh for expiring deals and Danilo Gallinari. Two of their best youngsters are free agents and I'm not sure either will be back. David Lee is pricing himself out of New York (although I think he'll soon find that nobody is offering him what he thinks he's worth) while Nasty Nate Robinson kind of seems like he'd rather leave.

Most people even think that the draft is a given. They'll take Stephon Curry if he's around. I think they'd be better off taking Jonny Flynn (or a number of other PG's) but that's really the only question about the offseason. There was some talk of Eddy Curry going to Charlotte but there's not really a contract there that the Knicks would want.

This is a lost season for Knicks fans as they look forward to bringing in a top draft pick along with their top free agents in 2010.
