I've been slacking off a bit on the ol' blog and the Joy Formidable has been the song of the week for a while but finally I've found a new song to make my playlist. The Pains of Being Pure of Heart's new album (below) is a solid effort although I do think that a lot of the songs remind me of other artists and I want to listen to those songs instead. For instance, the first song makes me want to listen to some vintage Smashing Pumpkins, which shouldn't be too surprising since the Pumpkins' producer Flood worked on the Pains album as well. Still, it's a solid album and the first good new music I've heard in a while.
