Review: Spaced
Well, I'm only a decade late to the party but I've watched the first season of "Spaced" (which is only 7 episodes) and have to say I'm a fan. The sit-con which was pitched as a cross between "The Simpsons, X-Files, and Northern Exposure" features Simon Pegg and was directed by Edgar Wright. If you're a fan of "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" you should definitely check this show out.
The stories are thin but filled with genre parodies and pop culture references which make the show entertaining. It also takes a couple of episodes to really get going but I recommend checking it out on Nextflix or anywhere else the DVD is available. The first episode is on YouTube. You're outta the loop, honky. Yes Spaced is awesome, Fox is remaking the series for American audiences (I don't know if the pilot's done or what) , Pegg had no clue and wasn't even consulted about it. He heard the news third hand and was piping mad, then Fox did the press release and stated they were going to tell him eventually.
Have you seen Gavin and Stacey? Brilliant show on BBC. You should surfthechannel for it, the first episode's a great setup and it gets better as it goes on. You, a fan of the rom/com will definitely appreciate it.
