It was fun while it lasted
Oh well. It looks like Josh Schwartz has done it again. He took only a half season to jump the shark on the O.C. (Oliver, anyone?) and it looks like Gossip Girl might always be on the way down. Last night's episode featured a lousy new character played Michelle Trachtenberg who came off like a dead man's Scarlett Johannson. On top of that there was a complete lack of any common sense of logic and one ridiculous racial stereotype. It's disappointing for a show that seemed to have so much promise but I highly doubt this show will have to worry about the college years.
The next episode is promising to major surprises but I'm willing to bet that at least one is a fake tease. They claim on character is coming out of the closet which seems like it could be a big change in the dynamic of the show but, what do you know, they just happened to introduce a new character in this past episode. Wonder if it will be him? I'm hoping something happens to Dan (perhaps the rumored OD) because his character (like most on the show) is just running in place. Anyway, something needs to happen because this show won't survive with it's standard formula much longer.
The show was a fun guilty pleasure but if they drop another brain-dead daytime soap of an episode, it might get nixed from the DVR and I'll likely be back to waiting for Life and The Shielf to return.

As an AVID SoulHonky reader, I usually look to The Honk to keep me up to date with the latest in angry gossip, bitter news and Hollywood misery but I am shocked at the behind the timesness of this post. Everybody knows by now that SPOILER DELETED And you better get your Gossip Girl while you can because the show is going down. All this recent chatter about how "hot and awesome" the show is is just a last ditch attempt to generate buzz because only six people watch the show. It gets stomped by "The Hills."
